Responsibilities

The Application Specialist – Process Analytics will provide advanced application support to the United States and International Sales team and diverse customer bases as part of a multifunctional global team.  Core responsibilities include understanding a customer’s application, selection of the proper Process Analytical Tools, and providing customer support through the purchase and product integration lifecycle. Additional responsibilities include advanced troubleshooting and problem solving specifically related to the application, occasionally including travel to domestic and international customer sites.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Advanced process analytical understanding of biopharma unit operations and applications to assist with improved product selection and implementation.
  • Facilitate solution selling through clear communication of product advantages in collaboration with Global Sales team.
  • Act as technical liaison between Process Analytics end users and Hamilton Area Sales Managers.
  • Use process understanding to facilitate product implementation. This may involve traveling to customer sites for setup, validation, and product integration.
  • Analyze data for products in demo phase to demonstrate value proposition of product and increase sales closure.
  • Develop streamlined data analytics approaches for effective interpretation and comparison of project datasets.
  • Present analyses to technical customers for increased value and confidence in Hamilton process analytics solutions.
  • Work with Area Sales Managers to manage active customer demos, including tracking and organizing materials for future demos. Focus should be on reduced demo duration and increased closure rate.
  • Collaborate with other Applications and Tech Support teammates to develop a unified process map of appropriate applications for process analytical tools.
  • Assess current state of team knowledge and identify learning opportunities for improved team effectiveness.
  • Report new product opportunities to Applications Manager for dissemination to Global Marketing team.
  • Work with Marketing and R&D team for new product development, beta testing, and data interpretation as needed.
  • Inform Applications Manager of application information to enhance new or complicated custom engineering projects.
  • Coordinate with Tech Support to keep abreast of current issues for improved customer recommendations.
  • Work with Tech Support, Applications, and Area Sales Managers to train new hires and improve hiring program materials.
  • Attend select tradeshows to stay current with new technologies and applications of our products.
  • Assist Product Management with the creation and editing of new and existing marketing materials, especially to aid in new product release, product implementation and adjacent markets as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must have strong problem solving skills.
  • Comfortable digesting scientific literature.
  • Scientific programming is necessary for daily activities. Previous python experience preferred.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to travel up 25%.
  • Must be able to lift approximately 30 pounds.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in field related to biopharmaceuticals or biotechnology (e.g. biochemistry, fermentation science, chemical engineering). Master’s degree or PhD are a plus.
  • One to two years hands-on experience with process sensor equipment and/or biotech.
  • Fluent in at least one programming language with ability to analyze diverse datasets.
