Responsibilities

The Manufacturing Engineer II will plan, design, and optimize manufacturing processes. Under the supervision of the Manufacturing Engineering Group Leader or Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer provides technical expertise to develop practical solutions for manufacture, testing, and improvement of company products.

  • Troubleshoot production floor issues in mechanical, electrical, and software systems. Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Responsible for process maturity in assigned area. Put in place the process measures necessary for monitoring and improving manufacturing processes. Identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Plan and carry out process improvement projects including redesign of fixtures and tooling, programming automated test procedures, instrumentation and automated data-gathering, improvement of manufacturing process instructions (MPls), improvement of preventive maintenance, measurement capability analysis for critical process parameters, and other activities necessary to reach business objectives.
  • Collaborate with R&D on the introduction of new products into manufacturing. Analyze new products for manufacturability and propose solutions. Perform qualification of new manufacturing processes.
  • Responsible for compliance of manufacturing processes to quality, regulatory, and safety standards. Document activities according to the procedures given in the Hamilton Quality Manual and as required by regulators.
  • Responsible for maintaining assembly documentation and production routings, Customer Complaint investigations and resolution, and Non-compliant materials investigations, improvements.
  • Use Hamilton procedures to document and qualify process improvements before release to ensure process integrity. Communicate with stakeholders in Production, Marketing, R&D, Quality, and other departments and address concerns.
  • Conduct after-action meetings to review the successes and failures from process improvement projects, to share the technical learning, and to demonstrate open and honest communication.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Expert Computer Skills (including Excel, Word)
  • Knowledge of Project management
  • Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma Training/Application
  • GD&T Knowledge
  • Root Cause Analysis
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, C++ preferred. 

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or similar from an accredited college.
  • 2 or more years' experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated competence in troubleshooting, supporting and improving electromechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and carry out process improvement projects: Develop the project plan and milestones, establish leading indicators of success/failure, provide timely status updates to stakeholders, and make course corrections as needed to achieve the project goals.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and rapidly adjust to changing priorities.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing test engineering preferred. 
  • Previous experience in manufacturing industrial automation (PLC, SCADA, HMI) implementation or sustaining preferred. 
  • Six/Sigma or Lean certification- Black belt or Master Black belt preferred.
