Responsibilities

The Field Applications Specialist (FAS) will provide application and technical support to customers for Hamilton products specific to our sensors (pH, DO, CO2, Cell Viability, Optical Dencytee, Conductivity, ORP, etc.) in the customers’ processes or bioreactor equipment. Location to be determined within the United States.

  • Develop application-specific protocols on Hamilton products by interpreting procedures provided by the customer or Hamilton Sales team.
  • Perform troubleshooting of application protocols and instrumentation.
  • Provide basic and advanced software and hardware training. Develop and deliver training material for Hamilton Sales and Applications team.
  • Develop application-specific protocols for complex automated instrumentation, which possibly require integration with third party devices.
  • Demonstrate understanding or usage of basic programming skills and software functions to allow our sensors to communicate with digital protocols (Modbus, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, Profinet, HART, Ethernet, etc).
  • Participate and contribute on instrumentation which requires Factory and Site Acceptance Testing.
  • Contribute to company knowledge base.
  • Maintain support for existing customers by providing additional application protocols, training, etc.
  • Understand customer expectations and schedule work accordingly.
  • Document application support work and customer visits within a company database or other required format.
  • Maintain professional relationships with customers and co-workers.
  • Identify Field Service opportunities/potentials for future business and communicate this to FAS Director or Sales Team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Good planning and customer relationship skills.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Must have exposure to, or basic knowledge of, laboratory and/or process control systems.
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally. Requires flexibility in working hours and availability for up to 75% travel.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • General knowledge of software for different digital platforms used in industry (Modbus, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus, etc.)
  • Proficient level of computer skills, including Microsoft Suite and HubSpot.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in science (Biology, Chemistry, or Life-Sciences) from a regionally accredited, not-for-profit institution or bachelor's degree plus a technical background /AA degree in an engineering or technical field required.
  • Minimum of three years of technical experience in the process analytics market required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with Critical Process Parameter (CPP) Sensors required.
  • Experience with programming or operating automated laboratory scientific equipment is preferred.
  • Experience with programming languages and computer knowledge is preferred.
