Responsibilities

 

The Staff Accountant-Compensation is a key member of the GL Accounting team.  The ability to deconstruct system and GL activity, perform problem-solving, and handle high-profile relationships and situations with mature judgment are critical for this role.  This position will acquire fluency in multiple systems and build high-profile relationships across the company.   

 

Job duties and responsibilities:

  • Build/prepare/improve journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules.
  • Perform audits and non-discrimination testing.
  • Configure and troubleshoot payroll and tax systems, serving as technical expert.
  • Configure, validate and submit quarterly and annual files to payroll tax system.
  • Build strong relationships with HR, Payroll, Accounting and companywide executives.
  • Calculate commissions using Power BI reports and complex analysis.
  • True-up company vacation balances and 401(k) balances at year-end.
  • Interpret configuration/ policies/ transaction history.

Qualifications

  • Team player, self-motivated, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and fluently learn multiple systems and business processes.
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Systems savvy with an intuitive understanding of software systems and how to extract, organize and analyze data (including proficiency in Excel PivotTables).

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or equivalent)
  • 2+ years of Accounting experience (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems, use reasoning and logic to evaluate possible causes and solutions, and devise and implement a plan of action.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
  • Payroll accounting/ payroll tax experience is preferred.
