Responsibilities

Hamilton Company is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Sales and Business Development professional to drive the growth of our automated liquid handling robotics and components business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying, developing, and closing sales opportunities within the life sciences, pharmaceutical, biotech, and related industries. This role requires a strong technical understanding of liquid handling automation, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of exceeding sales targets. Must aim to achieve company forecast sales goals as well as cultivate long-term business relationships. Duties include managing key accounts, negotiating contracts, and working with internal teams to achieve long-term goals. 

 

This position is located anywhere East of the Mississippi River, but preferably in the Boston area.

 

Sales & Business Development:

  • Identify and qualify sales leads through in-bound channels, proactive prospecting, networking, and market research.
  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve and exceed sales targets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, including scientists, lab managers, and procurement professionals.  
  • Conduct product demonstrations and presentations to showcase the capabilities and benefits of our liquid handling solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales proposals and quotations.
  • Negotiate contracts and close sales agreements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sales activities and customer interactions in CRM.
  • Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and seminars to promote products and generate leads.
  • Manage life cycle of instruments to identify second generation opportunities.

 

Technical Expertise:

  • Develop a deep understanding of our automated liquid handling robotics and components, including their technical specifications and applications.
  • Lead team for support and consultation to customers, addressing their specific needs and requirements.
  • Collaborate with the product development and engineering teams to provide customer feedback and identify opportunities for product improvement.
  • Be able to discuss and understand applications like PCR, NGS, sample prep, and other laboratory automation workflows.

 

Market Analysis & Strategy:

  • Conduct market research to identify trends, competitive landscape, and potential growth opportunities.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to penetrate new markets and expand existing customer base.
  • Provide regular sales forecasts and reports to management.

 

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Provide ongoing support and follow-up to customers, addressing any issues or concerns.
  • Build relationships with current customers to foster repeat business and strategic long-term partnerships.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to present and articulate ideas to C-Suite, R&D or other personnel internally and externally.
  • Strong understanding of automated liquid handling technologies and applications.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency and good habits utilizing CRM software to manage leads, opportunities, and accounts.
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally.
  • 10 years’ relevant sales and /or marketing experience

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in life science, engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant sales and /or marketing experience.
  • Experience selling capital equipment.
  • Experience selling to pharmaceutical, biotech, and academic institutions.
