Responsibilities

Hamilton Company is seeking a Field Application Engineer who will be responsible for field service and application support for Hamilton instrumentation and sensors in the Perth, Australia territory. This role includes equipment installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and providing application-specific support, training, and protocol development. The ideal candidate will have both technical and customer-facing skills, enabling them to deliver high-quality support while identifying opportunities for business growth.

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot Hamilton instruments.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures and document service reports.
  • Develop application-specific protocols for Hamilton products (liquid handling and sensors).
  • Support integration with third-party devices and digital communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet, HART).
  • Perform troubleshooting of application workflows and instrumentation.
  • Provide basic and advanced software/hardware training to customers and internal teams.
  • Support factory and site acceptance testing when required.
  • Maintain professional relationships with customers and act as the primary technical contact.
  • Understand customer expectations and schedule work accordingly.
  • Identify opportunities for additional service and application support, and communicate them to Sales Management.
  • Document field activities, application work, and customer visits in company databases.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge bases and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with Sales, Applications, and Service teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication, presentation, and customer relationship skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in field service, technical applications, or process analytics.
  • Ability to train non-technical personnel on technical material.
  • Knowledge of laboratory/process control systems, digital communication platforms, and/or robotics.
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally (up to 75%).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and reliable transport.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, or related), Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of technical experience in automation, process analytics, or laboratory instrumentation.
  • Experience with programming, automated systems, or CPP sensors preferred.
